Children's first life experiences are too many to mention; experiencing waves, running through a sprinkler or looking in a mirror and really seeing yourself for the first time. Sometimes these are experiences that are colored by things that children mainly see and feel (a coat on a hook in the dark is a monster). First Time is a short film in which we watch and live with a new experience of a 5-year-old. Partly due to the use of AI, we watch this experience frame by frame and see the shades and transitions of emotions that normally pass us by so quickly. This film was made by Rob Maas and Catherine van Campen of Cloudfilm, a small-scale production house for (experimental) documentaries, films and cross-disciplinary projects and collaborations.
